What’s the role?
The Procurement Specialist ensure rapid order fulfilment in the supply of goods, services and materials through the RtP process. He/she manages a large quantity and diversity in demand in the type of goods and materials, the quality of specification, and business drivers (schedule, cost, quality, HSE, and technical integrity). Responsible for the execution of the most practical process solution to meet immediate business needs and assess and organize the optimum contract and system solution to meet future business needs.
Accountabilities:
Continuously portray the ESSA Mindset: Eliminate, Simplify, Standardize & Automate.
Ensuring that the specification of the requested goods or services is of a sufficient standard to approach the external market via a Request for Quotation.
Ensure that correct and most efficient Channel Management (ERP, Pcard, GCC) is used to execute transactional requirements;
Ensuring that Requests for Quotation and Purchase Orders are free from errors which could expose Shell to Commercial or Technical Risk.
Managing the quotation, evaluation and negotiation process with suppliers following Shell’s General Business Principles.
Create and maintain Purchase Orders according to process documentation and agreed timelines;
Advising technical counterparts of estimated delivery lead times and freight or customs clearance issues.
Maintaining information related to supplier performance and adhering to delivery commitments and pricing competitiveness.
Close collaboration with requestors, SC Organization, and vendors.
Initiate and drive process improvements (CI) in the assigned area;
Work independently, able to support team members.
Managing high demand volumes whilst balancing the need to ensure price competitiveness and ethical buying principles.
Understanding technical specifications.
Prioritizing processing of requisitions to align with the Company’s agreed activity plans.
Being firm on governance and compliance with potential for Shell or Nigerian purchasing standards breaches.
Negotiating with local vendors to reduce prices and deliver faster.
Managing expectations of senior stakeholders where planning assumptions are unrealistic or have changed.
Ensure that the focus is on turnaround/shutdown material planning for each hub.
Understand risk matters about Procurement in Nigeria.
What we need from you?
Minimum 5 years of work experience (Supply Chain/Procurement role)
Direct experience in Requisition-to-Pay (RTP) process in procurement/expediting, inventory management or similar type role.
Knowledge of the E2E RtP processes, including Red Threads.
Negotiation skills.
High degree of organizational, prioritization and administrative skills.
Strong interpersonal and resilience skills.
Demonstrates Enterprise First values and behaviors with a high level of situational adaptability.
Able to challenge current solutions and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Analytical skills and ability to work independently.
Uncompromising on HSSE and E&C
CIPS certificate preferred.
Knowledge of the Nigerian Local Content Development Act (NCD).
Knowledge in Supply Chain Intelligence, Sourcing Strategies and Business Partnering
Has deal-making, negotiation, process, systems, information, and data management skills.
System skills include ERP SAP MM Module, SAP Ariba CMCP and MS Office.
